| | Nat Adderley - "Quit It" | ] | She really knew how much I still love her and think about her pretty much all throughout the day. I don't think she does, or she does, and doesn't care. I wish she did. She looked so beautiful today, but yeah, she looks beautiful everyday in my eyes. I guess more than usual. She laughs, and that makes me forget about the reality of the situation. But I sit quietly and idly by not mentioning that at all, because I don't want to jeopardize the friendship that we forged back three years ago. But still then, I liked her. I didn't love her, because I really didn't know her, but my relationship with her has always been around some kind of attraction. That's what makes it so hard. That's why I can't seem to cease to think about it, and not shut up about it.
I don't talk about it to my friends. I know they're tired of it, seeing it as old news and old problems that I should get over. Well, I can't get over this, and I'm sure I won't be able to get over it for a while.
That's why I haven't really been thinking about gals in that way (except for her) because I like her too much, and I'm trying to dedicate myself more to the Lord. I've become more interested in what the Lord teaches and have tried to live my life to His wishes. I keep Kosher (not hard already being a vegetarian), I've sworn off alcohol and tried to get rid of other vices that have plagued my mind and life. So right now, my priorities are the Lord and love. Love...I really wish...would be easier.
Peace. |

| | None right now.... funny enough | ] | Sitting here.... it being practically a day until Christmas. Myspace music isn't working on this computer, so that is making me a little annoyed. But no worries other than that.
I'm kind of indifferent about the whole thing. Not sure why. But yeah, it may be because people don't focus on the true meaning of the holiday. In case you didn't know, Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on this holiday. Now it is debated when Jesus was born and his significance in the world, but any rational person can at least say that he is an important part of our world's history and a great teacher and peacemaker.
Jesus' teachings were that of peace and loving your fellow man. Teachings about the grace of God and to turn the other cheek. Our society has driven away from these basic and simple lessons. Be it the acceptance of abortion, the problem in Iraq and our screw-ups in the Middle East in general and the remaining practice of the death penalty in this nation. Immorality is abound in this society, and our government just perpetuates it by allowing those said practices go on.
Now before you call me a Bible-beater or a Jesus-freak or any other pejorative for a fundamentalist Christian that you can think of, please realize where I come from. Though I do identify myself as a Protestant, and I do believe that Jesus Christ is my personal saviour, I do not believe that he is the only way. Consider the one billion Muslims out there, or the millions of practicing Jews out there. These faiths believe in my God, and I see them as my true brothers and sisters, even more so than certain Christian denominations. I see Judaism as the basis for the two faiths following it, Islam and Christianity. Islam being the youngest, and I can debate clarifies what God intended his message to be.
Yes, Islam has gotten a whole lot of bad press recently here in the States, and a lot of this is true. But it comes from a select minority of Islamofascists and ultra-fundamentalists that see tradition more than the word of Mohammed as faith. This is totally wrong and is similar to the KKK and its origins in certain Protestant faiths.
But to fight Islamofascism isn't through war, but through reason. We must do it the moral way. Iran is under control of these sinners, and a peaceful exchange of power is needed so the West can better see true intent of Islam as a peaceful, respectful cousin of their own native faith. The word Islam itself includes the word "peace" in it, it meaning "the peaceful submission to God". Allah is God and God is Allah, this is the truth that Christians and Jews should realize.
Before I go on a lengthy rant about this, I would just like to wrap up what I'm trying to get across in this entry. I would just like to see one day (be it from Heaven, because it will probably not happen in my time) the unification of these three faiths that believe in the God of Abraham. We have fought for centuries upon centuries, but yet, we believe in the same God and we are all this God's children. Let us mature ourselves and be well-behaved siblings under God. This is wishful thinking, but hope and wishes are more easily answered or fulfilled around Christmastime, so why not talk about them?
I hope that everyone out there has a wonderful Christmas, and remember Jesus and thank him for what he wanted to accomplish, even if you do not think he died for your sins.
Peace. : ) |

| | The songbirds outside (mockingbird and cardinal, I believe) | ] | The International Gourmet Club (formerly the French Club) is having their second meeting on Wednesday, October the 26th at 6:30 (no big whoop if you're a little late) at Solaris Tapas Restaurant and Bar. If you had ever gone to Macado's it's where that used to be. Before anyone says anything, I'm sure you're wondering what the hell are tapas. Well, they're a Spanish dish that's a bit like an appetizer. Their origins are tied to, like many Spanish things, wine. A long while back, people complained about dirty things falling into their wine. Restaurants soon covered (tapas means cover) the wine with a plate and eventually a small morsel of food to go along with your wine. At Solaris, they have traditional Spanish tapas plates as well as contemporary favorites. The best offer is to purchase three courses of tapas of your choosing to get a nice variety. If you haven't ever been exposed to this type of cuisine, I suggest coming to the meeting next Wednesday. There isn't a required dress code, but dress somewhat nicely because this a pretty nice establishment, anyway. (No sweats, pull-overs and other messy things like that). Also have money ready, they aren't pricey, per se, but it'd be best to have $10 (at least) on your person.
Here's the directions for Guilford College area:
1. Go down Market Street eastbound and head on down until you're downtown (About 9 miles, est.) 2. Keep an eye out for Elm Street, because you will be wanting to turn left onto DAVIE Street, which is the road just after Elm. 3. Keep on Davie, and Solaris is right near the Museum on Summit Avenue. (my cell will be on if you need help 509-0784) 4. There is a parking garage on the left side of Davie, where you have to pay a small or no fee (if parking is full at the restaurant)There are also plenty of other garages that are a short walk from the restaurant if you miss that one.
I hope to see a lot of you guys there. It's a pretty cool experience. |

But anyways, going to take that asinine PSAT shizznit tomorrow. Going to be sitting in that library for five fucking hours, wasting my life and my valuable time and plus class time. Also, a heavy majority of seniors have already taken the SAT, so how is a practise one going to help us out if we've already done the actual one. But logic isn't something that you'll find in our public education system. I say that you guys just leave us alone...stats show (I hate to use them, but at least I'm not using percentages like so many people do, ugh, but anyway) that our SAT scores only dropped after we had to go through the lame-ass prep things during school hours, where we would have to answer problems from the computer via email and all of those "words of the day" if you guys know what I mean. They increased in some fashion year after year before that measure was put in place. So I figure that all of that preparation shite made many of us stress about the test even more, and when you're stressed, you don't necessarily do your best.
So yeah, I see this as a threat by our school system. But yeah, they'll get a false reading about our scores if they take this practise seriously, because the majority haven't really done their best or taken the exam seriously. So they'll pile more shit on us. But yeah, that's how it is when you have a massive bureaucracy where at the top are sniveling, power-hungry, control freaks.
Until then, Peace out, y'all. |

"The Devil's Right Hand" by Steve Earle
About the time that Daddy left to fight the big war I saw my first pistol in the general store In the general store, when I was thirteen Thought it was the finest thing I ever had seen So l asked if I could have one someday when I grew up Mama dropped a dozen eggs, she really blew up She really blew up and I didn't understand Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand
The devil's right hand, the devil's right hand Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand
My very first pistol was a cap and ball Colt Shoot as fast as lightnin' but it loads a might slow Loads a might slow and soon I found out It can get you into trouble but it can't get you out So then I went and bought myself a Colt 45 Called a 'peacemaker' but I never knew why Never knew why, I didn't understand Cause Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand
Well I get into a card game in a company town Caught a miner cheating, I shot the dog down Shot the dog down, watched the man fall Never touched his holster, never had a chance to draw The trial was in the morning and they drug me out of bed Asked me how I pleaded, not guilty I said Not guilty I said, you've got the wrong man Nothing touched the trigger but the devil's right hand. |

The Europe trip was too short, and it seems like it was a trip that is almost teasing me and making me really want to go back. To spend more money. (Not as much money as this summer, damn, but yeah, still a good amount of money) If I don't go on Mrs. Wilson's trip that she keeps on talking about this summer, I am definitely returning to the UK or Iberia (for all you "ignant" people out there, that's Spain, Andorra and Portugal) the summer after my freshmen year in college. Damn...I'm almost in college. This bothers me as well. But anyways.
Just thinking. Thinking about how tomorrow is going to be. It's the whole anticipation thing, not sure if I'll be able to sleep that well tonight. I haven't been able to sleep well since I came back from the beach, really. That's two weeks of fucked up sleeping. That's got to be bad for me.
This summer happens to be quickest one I've had. Last summer I thought would never stop. This time a year ago, my mom was barely halfway done with her chemotherapy treatments. I was worried about that, and I remember hanging out with my friend Lauren at least two times a week that summer. She really comforted me in that confusing time. That summer I thought would be the end of my troubles, but other events that I really don't feel like discussing in this venue made me go into a depression. From about Christmas all the way to mid-May I felt like doing nothing. Nothing in school, and it seemed like I didn't give my friends the attention that they needed. It was primarily time for me, with a bit of time given to my family.
Still I feel like I owe my family for my stupid actions last winter and spring. But now, I'm starting to come to my senses. Now I'm getting that creative spirit back in me. That fighting spirit. I have good intentions about this school year, and I hope they come into fruition. I'm really looking forward to writing for the paper, and I already have three ideas for articles. And yes, two of them involve politics (duh, that's wild me for you). I'm looking forward to finding a job, and hopefully by my 18th birthday, getting my licence/car. Adios to dependency. I also intend to study my French extra hard, because I'm taking an effing AP class in it....and beginning to study my Spanish again, because I'm having that AP class next semester. It's a joyful thing for me. I like to learn more about the two foreign languages I can comprehend.
I'd also like to take a German class, or begin to learn German. I want to return to Germany and the other countries that speaks their language in Europe really bad, but before then I want to know how to speak German proficiently. Right now, I can sort of hear what's being said and sometimes tell what they're saying. But I really suck at speaking it. I can pronounce it okay. So that's a plus.
And the greatest thing that I want to achieve is to get back with my girl. I was dumb to split with her in the first place. So retarded, was I. Even if she goes to a different school than me next school year (I may not want to go or I may not get into Carolina (where she wants to go) my freshman year, but I should be able to transfer there later for sure) we'll still find a way to stay connected.
I feel like I'm rambling right now, and that I'm planning a New Years' Resolution list. But in fact I am. I feel like this is the start of a brand new time for me. Now you wonder my journal is called, New Day Rising?
Well, until then y'all. Peace out. |

Fourth Period - Journalism/Newspaper .... Finally, I get this fucking class!!! I wonder if I can fill the guaranteed hole that I have next semester with this class, because I've been wanting to write for the paper ever since early Sophomore year, but they've screwed me over.
Well, there it is. I hope I can fill my first period with something tolerable, like Sociology. I'm sure that I don't want to take another math class. It will hurt my GPA even more. And I will plead to the counselors if that's what the cunts over at the school assign me to alter my schedule.

Reason # 2:
When I don't sleep, it makes me feel better. I haven't been feeling that well lately. And I need to blow my mind for a bit.
Reason the Third: I like to watch the sunrise, and I haven't seen one in a long while. (The last time was down at Oak Island about three weeks ago, and what a glorious one it was.)
